Albanian MP in the Serbian Parliament, Shaip Kamberi, has spoken out against the recent state intervention at the University of Novi Pazar, revealing what he claims is the deeper agenda behind it.

According to Kamberi, Serbia is deliberately provoking tensions in areas populated by minority communities to portray them as destabilizing and anti-state elements. This, he says, is a tactic taken straight from the 1990s political playbook.

In his full statement, Kamberi condemned the involvement of state para-structures in the university and the attempt to suppress the Bosniak students’ protest movement for equality and rule of law.

“The state’s intervention today with para-formations at the University of Novi Pazar, and the attempt to crush the Bosniak students’ battle for equality and the rule of law, clearly shows this regime’s readiness to silence critical voices and extinguish student energy that has, for months, sought to liberate the state from autocratic structures,” he wrote.

Kamberi directly questioned the motive behind targeting Novi Pazar and this specific university:

“Why Novi Pazar? Why this university? It’s clear: the intention is to provoke conflict in minority-populated areas in order to portray minorities as destabilizing and anti-state.”

He concluded by labeling this move a recycled tactic from the 1990s, aimed at consolidating power and silencing dissent.
