Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of lacking any genuine willingness to reach a diplomatic solution to end the war, stating that the latest attacks on several cities demonstrate Moscow’s true intentions.
“Each such Russian attack damages the diplomacy that is still ongoing and undermines the efforts of partners who are helping to bring this war to an end,” Zelensky said.
In a wave of Russian drone strikes, at least two people were killed and more than 30 others were injured in the southern city of Odesa, according to regional officials. Odesa, a Black Sea port city and a key hub for Ukrainian exports, has been repeatedly targeted by Russian forces since the invasion of Ukraine four years ago.
Ukrainian energy companies reported that one of their facilities in the Odesa region sustained significant damage, which will require time to repair. The regional governor stated that Russia launched more than 50 attack drones, damaging dozens of residential buildings, a church, and a school.
In two additional drone attacks in the southern regions of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, two women were killed. Russian drone and missile strikes have disrupted electricity and heating supplies for millions of Ukrainians across the country.
Ukraine’s Air Force reported that Russia launched 165 attack drones overnight, while officials also confirmed strikes on the city of Lviv.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Ministry of Defense claimed on Tuesday that Russian forces had captured two more villages in eastern Ukraine, in the Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv regions.
