On Tuesday, posters featuring the colors of the Serbian flag and the message “We are coming for Christmas” appeared in the four northern municipalities of Kosovo.
The Kosovo Police stated that after consulting with the prosecutor, it was decided that the case would not be investigated, as “there is no case.”
Orthodox Christmas is celebrated on January 7th.
The appearance of such posters or graffiti with messages calling for the return of the Serbian Army to Kosovo or resistance against the Government of Kosovo in the northern region is not a new phenomenon.
The police have investigated these incidents in the past, but the public has not been informed about who is behind them.
In early June, a pamphlet featuring the portrait of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, with the message “Supreme Commander, we are waiting for you,” was seen.
Earlier in February, unknown individuals left leaflets in the northern part of Mitrovica, calling for resistance, accompanied by graffiti messages such as “When the army returns to Kosovo, the North Brigade lives on.”
In late June 2023, the Government of Kosovo declared the “North Brigade” and the “Civil Protection” organizations as terrorist groups, due to their involvement in various attacks on the Kosovo Police, reports REL.
Additionally, ten days before the September 2023 attack in Banjska, a graffiti appeared in North Mitrovica with the Serbian flag colors and the message “When the army returns to Kosovo.”
The North Brigade began writing graffiti with messages like “Don’t worry, we are here, we are waiting” and similar phrases since November 2022, when members of the Serb community withdrew from Kosovo institutions in the north, under the initiative of the Serbian List.
