Russian President Vladimir Putin заявил that Russia could completely withdraw from the European gas market and redirect its supplies elsewhere, without waiting for the European Union to formally halt imports.
Putin made the remarks on Wednesday after hosting Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó at the Kremlin.
Speaking to the media, Putin argued that the energy crisis in the European Union is the result of “wrong policies” pursued by EU authorities over “many years.” He suggested that Moscow is prepared to adjust its export strategy if Europe continues reducing reliance on Russian gas.
The statement underscores ongoing tensions between Moscow and Brussels over energy security, as the EU has sought to diversify its energy sources following years of geopolitical strain.
