The Kosovo Police have once again discovered a cache of weapons and ammunition in the north of the country, amid ongoing concerns over public safety and illegal arms in the region.
According to an official statement, the latest find was made in the basement of a residential building on “Ivo Lola Ribar” Street in Mitrovica North. The operation was conducted following a tip-off from local citizens.
“During the search, police confiscated 7 magazines filled with bullets, 1 grenade launcher (tromblon), and various mounting equipment intended for use with the launcher,” the report states.
The Kosovo Police have contacted the State Prosecutor and initiated a full investigation to identify those responsible for storing the illegal weapons.
This is not the first such case in the area. Authorities have previously reported multiple incidents of illegal arms being found in northern Kosovo, often in concealed or abandoned locations.
The continued discoveries underscore the fragile security situation in the region, where tensions between ethnic communities have been high, and efforts to maintain law and order remain a top priority for the government and international stakeholders.
