Weapons Laboratory Discovered in Northern Kosovo — The Name of Arrested Suspect; Dozens of Weapons Seized

RKS News has obtained exclusive details about an early morning operation conducted by the Directorate for Investigation of Organized Crime and Serious Crimes, in cooperation with the Basic Prosecution in Mitrovica. Following months-long investigations, three locations were raided in the north two in North Mitrovica and one in Zvecan.

Acting on a search warrant issued by the Basic Court in Mitrovica, authorities uncovered a sophisticated workshop for the modification and production of firearms. A large quantity of unauthorized weapons, ammunition, processing equipment, and firearm components were seized.

Sinjali sources confirm that the main suspect is Halim Ljaçkoviq, 67, the owner of one of the raided properties. He has been detained for 48 hours by order of the prosecutor.

Items seized at the scene include:

  • 11 long-barrel firearms, including various rifle and sport weapon models
  • 2 pistols, one of which is a Beretta
  • 20 bayonets, 36 magazines, 320 shell casings, 61 hunting cartridges, and 43 pistol rounds
  • 59 gun barrels, 87 other mechanical parts, and 27 serial number stamping tools
  • 3 industrial lathes suspected to have been used for modifying and producing illegal firearms
  • Mobile phones, documents, notebooks, and a large number of firearm construction components

The case has been initiated under the criminal offense of:
“Unauthorized import, export, supply, transport, production, exchange, mediation, or sale of weapons or explosive materials.”

Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, announced that police uncovered a workshop where various types of weapons were being modified.

He described the case as:

State-sponsored terrorism by Serbia.

“This kind of state-sponsored terrorism, like the case uncovered today, has no place in Kosovo — and never will. We will not stop, in every corner of our Republic.”
