Former Republican Congressman Jerry Weller stated that he believes Kosovo should be a member of NATO.
However, according to Weller, Kosovo needs to do more, and regarding former U.S. President Joe Biden, he said Biden could have done more for Kosovo.
“I believe Kosovo should be a member of NATO. I think Joe Biden could have done a lot more. Kosovars are disappointed that he did not engage more personally with Kosovo; he could have supported Kosovo more.”
“He always focused on dialogue, which is a process that doesn’t end, and it doesn’t seem to be yielding results or benefiting Kosovo for this issue to be delayed. Joe Biden could have intervened and strengthened support for Kosovo in that process,” Weller told Klan Kosova.
Furthermore, Weller stated that Kosovo has failed over the last four years to inform, recruit, and gain the support of members of Congress, the House of Representatives, and the U.S. Senate.
“The last two U.S. ambassadors to Kosovo have been excellent, with more ideas, but they needed to have the White House and Congress much more engaged behind them.”
“Kosovo’s failure over the past four years has been the failure to inform, recruit, and gain the support of members of Congress, the House of Representatives, and the U.S. Senate to activate and pressure the White House and the State Department to stand by Kosovo,” he said.
