Earlier this week, Vetëvendosje leader Albin Kurti indicated that he might not be able to form a new government in Kosovo.

According to the Kosovo Constitution:

  • If the proposed government fails to secure the required parliamentary majority, the President must appoint a second nominee for Prime Minister within 10 days, choosing someone most likely to succeed in forming a government.
  • The new nominee will then have 15 days to present the proposed government and its work program to the Assembly.
  • If the government is still not approved, the President is required to call new parliamentary elections, which must be held within 40 days of the announcement.
