The National Elections Coordinator, prosecutor Laura Pula, has addressed questions regarding candidates for parliament whose vote counts were allegedly increased during the electoral process.

Speaking at a press conference, Pula stated that all cases will be investigated thoroughly and that no candidate will be amnestied, regardless of the public office they hold.

“Candidates whose votes were increased will be subject to investigation, depending on the findings from interviews and statements provided by commissioners and heads of polling station commissions,” Pula said.

She emphasized that prosecutors must secure concrete evidence proving that any candidate intentionally influenced or ordered the manipulation of votes.

“The addition of votes to help a candidate become an MP is done deliberately and by specific instruction. How this was carried out and in what manner will be clarified during the investigation, whether through camera footage or cooperation with commissioners and presiding officers,” she explained.

Pula underlined that accountability will apply equally to everyone:

“One thing is certain: no person will be forgiven, regardless of the position they hold, provided we have sufficient evidence. We must also ensure fairness, so that no one is wrongfully accused or detained without cause,” she concluded.

The investigation into alleged electoral manipulation is ongoing, with prosecutors awaiting further evidence as the vote recount process continues.
