The White House announced today that U.S. President Donald Trump appreciates Elon Musk’s apology, issued just hours after the billionaire expressed regret for some of his social media posts last week.

White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt also stated that the U.S. administration has not taken any steps regarding government contracts with Musk’s companies, Reuters reported.

The New York Times, citing three sources, reported today that Trump received a phone call from Elon Musk late on Monday, during which Musk expressed regret for certain social media posts from the previous week.

This development follows public disagreements between Trump and Musk, which had led Trump to declare last week that he had no desire to mend their relationship, believing it was “finished.” He had also stated that he thought the Republican Party was more unified after the disputes with the Tesla owner, emphasizing no immediate plans to speak with Musk.

“I’m too busy with other things. I have no intention of talking to him,” Trump had said, also accusing Musk of showing “disrespect for the presidential office.”
