The White House has stated that U.S. President Donald Trump is prepared to use military force against Iran if he deems it necessary, while stressing that diplomacy remains his preferred option.
White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt told reporters that President Trump has “shown that he is not afraid to use military options” when circumstances require it.
“One thing President Trump is very good at is keeping all options on the table, and airstrikes would be one of many, many options available,” Leavitt said, emphasizing that the administration is carefully evaluating the situation regarding Iran.
At the same time, she underlined that diplomacy remains the first choice for the U.S. president.
“The president told you all last night that what you are hearing publicly from the Iranian regime is very different from the messages this administration is receiving privately,” Leavitt added.
She concluded by reaffirming Trump’s stance:
“The president has demonstrated that he is not afraid to use military options if and when he sees it as necessary — and no one knows this better than Iran.”
The remarks come amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran, following ongoing protests in Iran and growing international concern over the regime’s response.
