The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has warned that an evacuation order issued by Israel for an area in Beirut is “operationally unfeasible.”

According to him, the evacuation zone in the Jnah area includes two major referral hospitals: Rafik Hariri University Hospital and Al Zahraa Hospital.

There are approximately 450 patients currently in these two hospitals, including around 40 in intensive care.

“At this time, there are no alternative medical facilities available to receive these patients,” Tedros stated, emphasizing that this makes any evacuation extremely difficult to carry out.

He added that both hospitals are operating at full capacity, including treating people injured in the April 8 attacks.
