The United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and Portugal officially recognized the State of Palestine on Sunday.

At a UN conference co-hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman later today, more countries are expected to formally recognize Palestinian statehood.

On Friday, a Macron advisor indicated that these countries could include:

  • France
  • Belgium
  • Luxembourg
  • Andorra
  • San Marino
  • Malta

Currently, over three-quarters of the 193 UN member states already recognize Palestine. Countries that have not yet recognized it include the United States, Israel, Italy, and Germany, according to BBC reports.
