Europe’s football governing body, UEFA, has officially announced the referee for the Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan. The match, scheduled for May 31st in Munich, will be officiated by Istvan Kovacs, a seasoned Romanian referee.
At 40 years old, Kovacs is no stranger to high-stakes games. His impressive résumé includes refereeing the 2022 Conference League final and the 2024 Europa League final. This season alone, he’s taken charge of seven Champions League matches, including the high-profile Round of 16 second leg between Liverpool and PSG.
Kovacs’ experience and consistent presence at top-tier European competitions underline UEFA’s trust in his ability to handle such a historic clash between two of Europe’s football giants.
