Arieta Spahiu, the wife of former Kosovo Police officer Arbnor Spahiu, has made a public plea to Kosovo’s President Vjosa Osmani and other state institutions, urging them to react to his arrest in Serbia. Arbnor Spahiu is currently accused by Serbia of “aggravated murder” in connection with the Banjska incident.

Speaking to Dukagjini Television, Arieta Spahiu emphasized that Arbnori needs support more than ever, yet all institutions have remained silent so far.

I publicly demand that you take a stand, speak out, and undertake concrete steps to address the case of my husband and others like him. Arbnori contributed to Kosovo’s security for years. And today, when he needs support more than ever, he has been left in silence. No institution has reacted. Not the President, not the Assembly, not anyone else. And this silence is another pain for my family,” she stated.

Spahiu stressed that she is speaking not just as a wife, but as a citizen. “I’m not speaking here only as a wife. I’m speaking as a citizen. Because tomorrow, this could happen to someone else,” she warned. “I demand from President Vjosa Osmani, from the Government, and from all institutions to react immediately. Arbnori must return home. He is not guilty – he is a silent hero of this country.

Her full appeal passionately reiterates her shock and disappointment at the lack of public support from the President and other bodies for someone who served the state with “honor, dedication, and great sacrifice.” She calls it “unforgivable and incomprehensible” that institutional silence is the response for those who defended the state during its most difficult times.

Please, do not allow silence to be the only answer for those who gave everything for this state,” she urged, extending her appeal to the media, civil society, and all conscientious individuals: “Do not be silent. Because silence is complicity.”
