Milka Mesić, the wife of former Croatian President Stjepan Mesić, passed away on Tuesday.
She was born in 1939 in the town of Slabinje, located in the Sisak-Moslavina County.
The couple married in 1961, after Stjepan completed his studies.
After Mesić was elected President of Croatia in 2000, Milka rarely appeared in public and seldom accompanied her husband on official trips and state visits abroad.
