In the past 24 hours, 26 wildfire outbreaks have been reported across Albania, all of which have been neutralized thanks to the intensive efforts of operational response teams, according to the Ministry of Defense, reports RKS News.
The fires were recorded in the counties of Vlorë, Gjirokastër, Lezhë, Shkodër, Dibër, Korçë, Tiranë, Kukës, Durrës, and Berat.
As a result, approximately 56 hectares of vegetation, including trees, shrubs, and grassland, have been destroyed. In two incidents, the fires also caused material damage—affecting a business in Durrës and two oil wells in the village of Kozare, where two electric motors were damaged due to low-voltage wire breakage.
Firefighting operations involved:
64 fire trucks
449 personnel
2 military fire engines
14 Armed Forces members
1 Cougar helicopter from the Armed Forces
According to the Institute of Geosciences, today’s fire risk level is:
“HIGH” in Lezhë, Durrës, Tiranë, Berat, and Fier
“MODERATE” in the remaining counties
The National Operational Center for Civil Emergency remains on standby, ready to respond to any further developments.
