The Ministry of Defense reported that 23 wildfire outbreaks were recorded in Albania over the past 24 hours. Of these, 16 have been extinguished, 4 remain active, and 3 are under monitoring.
“Thanks to the intervention of firefighting units, the Armed Forces, and local authorities, 16 fires have been fully contained and extinguished,” the Ministry stated. Efforts continue in areas where fires have not yet been neutralized.
According to the official report, extinguished fires were located in Gramsh, Vlorë, Skrapar, Përmet, Durrës, Krujë, Memaliaj, Shkodër, Patos, Delvinë, and Elbasan. The situation remains most critical in several northern and southeastern municipalities.
In Fushë-Arrëz, fires in the villages of Xeth, Kolumri, and Trun remain uncontrolled due to the rough terrain. Local structures and 50 Armed Forces personnel with a firefighting vehicle are engaged on site.
In the Gërmenj Natural Park in Kolonjë, the fire continues to spread toward the border. Firefighters, forest services, the Protected Areas Agency, the municipality, and 30 soldiers from the Drenova unit are actively working to contain it.
In Bulqizë, fires in Tërnovë and Val are being monitored and addressed by firefighters, forest workers, and local residents. Fires in some villages in Tirana and Delvinë have been minimized but remain under observation.
“The National Civil Protection Agency, together with the Armed Forces, firefighting services, local structures, and residents, continues working to fully neutralize fires and protect communities,” the Ministry concluded.
