Since May 2025, citizens of Kosovo have been paying 16.1% more for electricity, following a decision by the Energy Regulatory Office (ZRrE). However, these tariffs may change again before the end of the year.

According to the head of ZRrE, future increases remain possible, depending on the overall system costs. At the same time, tariff reductions could occur if significant energy savings are achieved.

When asked about the likelihood of lowering tariffs, the Kosovo Transmission System Operator (KOSTT) clarified that the tariff adjustment process for 2026 will begin in December 2025 and conclude in March 2026. This procedure will set electricity tariffs for the period April 1, 2026 – March 31, 2027.

KOSTT emphasized that it currently has no information on ZRrE’s final decision, since its tariffs represent only a portion of the final consumer price.

Meanwhile, ZRrE reported that in many consumer categories, electricity consumption has increased significantly, and import costs have exceeded earlier projections – factors that could further influence pricing.
