U.S. presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to avoid any actions that could endanger the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire plan brokered by President Donald Trump, according to reports by Israel’s Channel 12, cited by journalist Nava Freiberg.

During their meeting on Monday, Trump’s advisors emphasized the importance of moving forward toward the second phase of the peace agreement.

“Do not act in a way that would endanger the ceasefire. We want to do everything to reach the second phase,” Witkoff and Kushner reportedly told Netanyahu, stressing that while “self-defense” is legitimate, “risking the ceasefire is not.”

Also present at the meeting was Ron Dermer, Israel’s Minister of Strategic Affairs, who, along with Netanyahu, reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to the ceasefire framework and expressed expectations that Hamas will uphold its obligations under the deal.

In a rare development, Trump’s representatives also met with two major generals from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) — the head of the Technological Division and the chief of Military Intelligence — to assess Israel’s progress in implementing Trump’s post-war framework for Gaza.

According to Channel 12, the discussions focused on “the entire mechanism for the dismantling and demilitarization of Gaza after the war,” with the U.S. delegation seeking assurances that the IDF is preparing adequately for phase two of the ceasefire plan.

These meetings, held with authorization from Israel’s political leadership, reflect the Trump administration’s ongoing efforts to stabilize the fragile Gaza truce and ensure all parties fulfill their commitments, as part of a broader strategy to advance peace and stability in the region.
