A 38-year-old woman has been charged for her alleged involvement in the high-profile Louvre Museum jewelry theft in Paris, where pieces valued at €88 million were stolen.

She faces accusations of “organized theft in collaboration” and “criminal conspiracy” and has been placed in pretrial detention.

The arrest comes after four other suspects were detained earlier this week. Two of them have already been formally charged, admitting partial involvement in the heist, while one suspect remains at large.

Authorities say the robbery occurred on October 19, shortly after the museum opened. Four masked men accessed the Apollo Gallery via a balcony near the Seine, using a stolen mechanical elevator, smashed glass cases, and stole the jewelry in just four minutes. They escaped on two scooters waiting outside.

Despite the arrests, the stolen jewels have not yet been recovered. French authorities have increased security at cultural institutions, and the Louvre has transferred some of its most valuable treasures to the Bank of France for safekeeping.
