The “March, Not Celebrate” collective held its annual protest in Prishtina on International Women’s Day, demanding justice and equality for women.
Gathering at Zahir Pajaziti Square, demonstrators marched toward the Kosovo Police Headquarters, where they threw red paint and smoke bombs near the main entrance of the police station.
Protesters chanted slogans such as “Down with the Patriarchal Police” and “The Police Have Blood on Their Hands for Murdered Women”, highlighting their frustration with law enforcement’s handling of gender-based violence cases.
The march continued toward the Kosovo Judicial Council building, where similar actions were taken to condemn the justice system’s failures in protecting women.
This demonstration reflects the growing demand for institutional accountability in addressing violence against women in Kosovo.
