Bayer Leverkusen staged a comeback to defeat Heidenheim 5-2 on Saturday during the 11th round of the German Bundesliga.
The match between the reigning German champions and Heidenheim delivered a thrilling showdown with numerous chances and seven goals scored.
The visiting team took an early lead with goals from Dorsch (11′) and Honska (21′), putting them up 0-2.
However, Leverkusen refused to surrender, not only leveling the score but also securing a decisive victory.
First, Palacios narrowed the deficit to 1-2 after an assist from Granit Xhaka. Then, Schick stole the show with a hat-trick (32′, 52′, 71′). Finally, the fifth goal was sealed by Albanian midfielder Granit Xhaka in the 82nd minute.
Following this victory, Leverkusen now holds fourth place in the standings with 20 points, while Heidenheim sits in 14th place with 10 points.
Borussia Dortmund also secured a win, defeating Freiburg 4-0 in front of their home fans.
Goals from Beier (7′), Nmecha (40′), Brandt (66′), and Gittens (77′) ensured a commanding victory for the ‘Millionaires,’ who now occupy fifth place with 19 points.
