There is no conflict of fundamental interests or geopolitical conflicts between China and the European Union (EU), which makes them partners who can contribute to mutual progress, said Chinese President Xi Jinping during a phone conversation with the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa.

“China and the EU do not have fundamental conflicts of interest or geopolitical contradictions; they are partners who succeed together,” he added.

Noting that China remains committed to high-quality development and high-level opening up, Xi stated that this will bring new opportunities for China-EU cooperation.

He emphasized that China and the EU should expand their openness to each other, strengthen existing cooperation mechanisms, and create new growth points.

Meanwhile, Costa added that the EU is ready to work with China to resolve economic and trade differences through dialogue and consultation.
