Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, has warned that Russia could eventually collapse like the Soviet Union, as not all of its peoples voluntarily joined the federation.
In an interview with RBC-Ukraine, Yermak described the Russian Federation as a distorted version of the USSR, predicting it may face a similar fate.
He emphasized that even Russians recognize that, despite the country’s vast size, Ukrainian forces can reach any part of its territory, noting, “The war has already entered their land.”
Yermak added, “Every empire, every dictatorship, is built on violence. Some submit for interest, gain, or fear. But many, even the majority, obey out of sheer fear.”
Drawing a direct parallel to the fate of the Soviet Union, which dissolved in 1991, he said:
“Formally, the Russian Federation is supposed to be a voluntary union of peoples. But how voluntary is it really? Not everyone joined willingly—and not everyone is happy there. The Russian Federation is a parody of the USSR, and I wouldn’t rule out that it could follow the same path of collapse.”
Yermak also remarked that although Moscow often presents itself as a friend to many countries, the world is aware of the true nature of such ‘friendship’. He noted that no country wants an aggressor state to succeed, and even China understands the potential consequences of unlimited Russian power.
