Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that US President Donald Trump appears ready to provide Ukraine with security guarantees once the war ends.
“We understand that President Trump is ready to give Ukraine security guarantees after the war is over,” Zelensky told reporters following his meeting with Trump at the UN headquarters in New York, according to the BBC.
When asked for specifics, Zelensky admitted: “I don’t want to lie; we don’t have specific details.”
Mentioning possibilities such as air defense systems, drones, and weaponry, the Ukrainian leader added that if his country were to secure such guarantees, Russian President Vladimir Putin would “lose his main reason” for continuing the war.
