Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that security guarantees are “the most important thing” and must be “strong and protective” ahead of his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.

Zelensky emphasized that Russia has demonstrated its response to U.S. and Ukrainian peace efforts by continuing attacks on Ukraine.

Negotiations, he said, must minimize unresolved issues, noting that while there are “red lines” for Ukraine, there are also compromise proposals under discussion.

He also called for additional weapons from Europe: “We need more missiles because Russia is attacking more.”

In a separate Telegram statement, Zelensky explained that Ukraine is working with the U.S. on a reconstruction plan through 2040, focusing on:

  • Returning refugees
  • Economic prosperity and new job creation
  • European Union membership

He estimated that $700–800 billion will be needed for reconstruction.

Zelensky stressed the importance of a shared vision with the U.S., mentioning the creation of several joint funds, including a reconstruction investment fund involving both countries.
