Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on the United States on Wednesday to impose further sanctions on Russia, as he clearly stated that Russia is not pursuing “real peace” following a night of drone attacks that caused damage in various Ukrainian cities.

The Ukrainian president singled out the attacks on his hometown of Kryvyi Rih and the northern Sumy region, as questions arose about the fundamental details of two ceasefire agreements announced by the United States on Tuesday after talks in Saudi Arabia.

The United States said it agreed with Ukraine and Russia to halt their attacks on the Black Sea and against each other’s energy infrastructure, although it was unclear when the agreements would take effect, according to Reuters, as reported by Gazeta Sinjali.

Meanwhile, President Zelensky stated that the agreements were effective immediately, but the Kremlin said that the Black Sea agreements would not take effect unless certain Russian banks were connected to the international financial system. The Kremlin also mentioned that it is already implementing its pause on energy attacks.
