Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has congratulated Donald Trump on what he called his “impressive election victory.”
In his message, Zelensky referred to the meeting he had with Trump in September, stating that he values Trump’s commitment to the approach of “peace through strength” when it comes to global issues.
Zelensky also emphasized that Ukraine relies on strong U.S. support.
“I remember our wonderful meeting with Trump in September, where we discussed in detail the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the U.S., the Victory Plan, and ways to end the Russian aggression against Ukraine. I value Trump’s commitment to the ‘peace through strength’ approach when it comes to global issues. This is exactly the principle that can bring Ukraine closer to peace. We look forward to a powerful era of the U.S. under Trump’s leadership. We rely on strong bipartisan support in the U.S. for Ukraine,” Zelensky wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
He further stated that Ukraine, with one of the strongest armies in Europe, is committed to ensuring long-term peace and security in Europe and the transatlantic community with the support of its allies.
Meanwhile, Trump has secured 267 out of the 270 necessary electoral votes to be declared president, with just three more votes standing between him and formal confirmation.
