Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that the United States has proposed holding “peace talks” involving representatives of Ukraine and Russia, and possibly European countries as well.
He made these remarks during a joint press conference with Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro in Kyiv.
“The United States of America proposed a separate meeting with representatives of Russia and presented the following format, as far as I understand it: Ukraine, America, the ‘Russians,’ and since European representatives could also be there, possibly Europe as well. Why do I say ‘possibly’? Because this would be a logical arrangement if such a joint meeting were to take place,” Zelensky said.
Zelensky stressed that such a meeting would only make sense “if we understand the possible outcome of the US–Ukraine meeting that has already taken place.”
“We will understand whether there is a positive result or not, and we will proceed from there,” the Ukrainian president concluded.
