Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Sunday that he had a phone conversation with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, during which they discussed joint diplomatic efforts and preparations for the upcoming Volunteer Coalition Summit in Rome, expected to take place in the coming days.

“We are working to ensure that the decisions made at the summit will be as strong as possible,” Zelensky stated.

He added that PM Starmer expressed condolences over Russia’s continued attacks on Ukraine and reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to supporting Ukraine in various ways.

Among the key topics, Zelensky highlighted a new funding package to be delivered this month to boost Ukraine’s domestic drone production, particularly interceptor drones vital for countering Russian air assaults.

The two leaders also agreed to strengthen cooperation within other key international formats, including the Ramstein group, with a particular focus on enhancing Ukraine’s air defense capabilities.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s General Staff reported that Russia has lost over 1,027,540 troops since its full-scale invasion began on February 24, 2022.
