Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, describing the discussion as “excellent and in-depth.”

In a statement on the platform X, Zelensky highlighted Italy’s proactive diplomatic role in supporting efforts to end the ongoing conflict and advance a sustainable peace.

According to the Ukrainian president, the talks focused on coordinating the next steps on the international stage, ensuring that both Kyiv and Rome remain aligned in their strategic approach.

We appreciate Italy’s active role in generating concrete ideas and defining measures that bring us closer to peace,” Zelensky said.

He added that he briefed Prime Minister Meloni on the progress of Kyiv’s negotiating team, stressing the importance of maintaining strong political and diplomatic cooperation.

We rely heavily on Italy’s continued support — it is crucial for Ukraine,” Zelensky underlined.

Beyond diplomacy, a significant part of the meeting addressed material assistance, particularly in the energy sector, which has suffered heavy damage due to continued Russian strikes.

Zelensky expressed gratitude for Italy’s recent contributions:
I also want to express my appreciation for the energy assistance package and the essential equipment provided. This is exactly what will support Ukrainian families.
