Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reiterated his call for tougher sanctions on Russia, emphasizing the need for greater international pressure in response to Moscow’s continued attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

Since the beginning of its full-scale invasion nearly four years ago, Russia has consistently targeted Ukraine’s energy sector, striking heating facilities and civilian infrastructure in an attempt to undermine morale and disrupt daily life.

According to Zelensky, the primary response must be an increase in sanctions.

In a statement today, he said: “The pressure on Russia is still insufficient, and any weakening within the existing frameworks of pressure only encourages Putin to prolong the war, inflict more damage on our country, our people, and others around the world,” Sky News reports.
