With his hand over his heart, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, alongside soldiers and senior military officials, commemorated National Flag Day in a solemn ceremony held Saturday in Kyiv.
Standing beneath the blue and yellow flag that symbolizes the sky and peace, Zelensky emphasized the importance of unity and resilience, expressing gratitude to all those who have contributed to the defense of Ukraine.
He called for a moment of silence in honor of the fallen, underscoring that their flag now represents courage, sacrifice, and determination for freedom.
Zelensky also stated that although there are efforts to achieve peace through a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, “Moscow is doing everything to obstruct this plan,” noting that the war remains a painful reality for the Ukrainian people.
