Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Tuesday that he is postponing his planned visit to Saudi Arabia, which was scheduled for Wednesday. The decision comes after he criticized recent U.S.-Russia talks held in Riyadh.
“We are honest and open-minded; I don’t want any coincidences. That is why I will not go to Saudi Arabia,” Zelensky stated while in Turkey.
The Ukrainian leader confirmed that he had agreed with Saudi authorities to reschedule the trip for March 10.
Denouncing the closed-door meeting between Russian and American officials in Riyadh, Zelensky insisted that fair negotiations are necessary to discuss the ongoing war.
“Ukraine and Europe in the broadest sense—including the European Union, Turkey, and the United Kingdom—must be involved in discussions and the development of necessary security guarantees alongside the United States regarding the fate of our region,” he emphasized.
