Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that if a meeting with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin takes place, he will negotiate a full ceasefire.
“We will do everything to make this meeting happen if Putin is truly willing, not just in the media but in real life, to meet. And then, at the leadership level, we’ll do everything to agree on a ceasefire. Because he is the one I need to negotiate with. He’s the only one who decides on this,” Zelensky said.
He emphasized that if during the negotiations Putin expresses readiness for an unconditional ceasefire, it would open the door to more detailed discussions on ending the war altogether.
Zelensky also expressed hope that his American counterpart, Donald Trump, would join the talks.
“We offered President Trump to join. I don’t know the decision of the U.S. President, but in any case, if he confirms his participation, it would add extra momentum to bring Putin to the table,” Zelensky added.
