Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky strongly condemned a “demonstrative and cynical” Russian strike on a residential building in Kharkiv overnight, stressing that Russia must not be rewarded for its aggression against Ukraine.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Zelensky said Moscow deliberately carried out strikes as international talks on ending the war take place today in Washington.
According to him, Russian forces attacked the regions of Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Odesa early Monday.
“The Russian war machine continues to destroy lives regardless of everything. Putin will carry out demonstrative killings to maintain pressure on Ukraine and Europe, as well as to undermine diplomatic efforts,” Zelensky stated.
He reiterated that Ukraine is calling for credible security guarantees to put an end to Russia’s assaults:
“That is why we are asking for assistance to stop the killings. That is why reliable security guarantees are needed. And that is why Russia must not be rewarded for its role in this war.”
