Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that a Russian drone penetrated approximately 10 kilometers inside Romanian territory and remained in NATO airspace for about 50 minutes.
Romania scrambled fighter jets in response to the incident, while Poland also took military measures against Russian drone attacks.
Zelensky stressed that this was not a coincidence or mistake, but a clear escalation of Russian aggression:
“Small steps at first, and eventually major losses.”
He called for preventive actions and stronger measures against Russia, adding:
“Sanctions against Russia are needed. Tariffs on Russian trade are needed. Collective defense is needed.”
Ukraine has proposed to its partners the establishment of a joint defense system to prevent further attacks and to guarantee security in the region.
