Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed the law ratifying the bilateral agreement that establishes the U.S.–Ukraine Investment Fund for Reconstruction, Rks News reports.
According to the official website of the Presidency, Law No. 0309 on the ratification of the minerals agreement was signed by the President on Monday and submitted the same day, completing the formal ratification process, Telegrafi reports.
On May 8, the Ukrainian Parliament voted in favor of ratifying the minerals agreement with the United States, paving the way for the creation of the Investment Fund for Reconstruction.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yuliia Svyrydenko stated that “the Fund will become operational within a few weeks following the agreement’s ratification.”
The agreement has drawn international attention over the past few months, partly due to previous verbal tensions between President Zelensky and former U.S. President Donald Trump, who had accused Zelensky of lacking gratitude for American aid to Ukraine.
