Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited his troops defending the strategic city of Pokrovsk in eastern Ukraine, a city that Russia has been attempting to capture for months.
The Russian forces are now positioned just six kilometers from Pokrovsk, a mining city in the Donetsk region, which is considered a vital logistics hub. Moscow has been trying to seize the entire region, which it annexed in 2022 alongside three other areas in eastern and southern Ukraine.
“I received a report on the defense in Pokrovsk, the operational situation, and the progress of missions,” Zelensky shared on social media, accompanied by a video from the command center.
The exact timing of Zelensky’s visit was not disclosed. Unlike Russian President Vladimir Putin, who rarely visits frontlines, Zelensky is known for frequently visiting military positions along the frontlines.
