Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that his forces are planning new deep strikes within Russian territory.
The statement came after a meeting with top Ukrainian general Oleksandr Syrsky, where the situation along key fronts was discussed. Zelensky said:
“We analyzed in detail the situation in the Zaporizhzhia direction and the enemy’s objectives, as well as the situation along the border areas of Sumy and Kharkiv. We will continue our active operations in the appropriate manner to defend Ukraine. Forces and resources are prepared. New deep strikes are also planned.”
The announcement follows a deadly Russian attack on a five-story residential building in Zaporizhzhia during the night of Saturday.
Zelensky noted that Russian forces are concentrating their largest efforts on Pokrovsk, a strategic mining and logistics hub in eastern Ukraine, previously considered one of the safest cities in Donbas.
