Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he has spoken with US President Donald Trump about the urgent need to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense, as Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities intensify.

In a brief Telegram message regarding their phone conversation, Zelenskyy stated that the American president was “very well informed” about the situation in Ukraine. According to Zelenskyy, they discussed “opportunities in the field of air defense and agreed to work towards strengthening sky defense.”

He further announced that they have agreed to organize a special meeting between their teams specifically for this issue.

Zelenskyy added that possibilities for co-production of weapons were also discussed during the call, emphasizing: “We are ready for direct projects with America,” as well as potential joint purchases and investments, The Guardian reported.

The Ukrainian President also conveyed his wishes for the US Independence Day, thanking the United States for the support Ukraine has received thus far.

“We have done a lot together with America and support every effort to stop the killings and restore normal, stable, and dignified peace. For peace, an honest agreement is needed, and Ukraine supports American proposals,” he stated.
