Today marks 26 years since the horrific massacre of Rezalle in Skenderaj, which occurred on April 5, 1999, when Serbian forces executed 98 Albanians, residents of Rezalle and surrounding villages.

They did not stop there, as after the executions, the Serbian forces also disappeared the bodies of the victims, leaving behind a great tragedy.

Some of the victims’ bodies were later found in Rudnice, Rashke, in Serbia, and were handed over to the families.

This barbaric and unforgivable act marked one of the most painful episodes of the war in Kosovo, and the Rezalle massacre remains one of the heaviest events of the war period.

On April 5, 1999, the Serbs surrounded the homes of these families and ruthlessly shot at the men and young boys, leaving behind a terrible destruction and an indelible tragedy in Kosovo’s history.
