Lawyer Božo Prelević has raised concerns over the upcoming elections, describing them as a critical moment in which authorities may attempt to secure victory despite declining public support.

Speaking to Nedeljnik, Prelević stated that recent personnel changes in the police and judiciary are effectively “assembling a team” tasked with legitimizing potentially irregular election outcomes.

“Changes in the police and judiciary are essentially a team being formed to support Vučić’s forces on the ground. Their task is to legitimize irregular elections,” he said.

Warnings of election irregularities
Prelević highlighted a recurrent scenario:

  • Ballot stuffing and double IDs
  • Pressure on voters
  • Compromising of independent or opposition candidate lists

He also warned about the use of fake student lists and sidelined candidates, who may now be deployed in strategic roles to manipulate the process. According to Prelević, these are well-paid operatives intended to complicate the electoral process.

“There will almost certainly be false student lists and those who have been relegated to the bench, now playing roles as various ‘placeholders’ or ‘Nestorovićs’. These are reserve players, well-compensated to make things messy,” he explained.

Prelević’s statements suggest that systematic use of institutional power could undermine electoral integrity, making oversight and monitoring in the coming elections particularly crucial.
