Sinan Dauti, missing during the war, is reburied today in Upper Prekaz

Today, a reburial ceremony for Sinan Dauti, who had been missing during the Kosovo war, will take place in Upper Prekaz. His remains were discovered a few days ago.

The ceremony is scheduled to be held today at 13:30 at the Bregaj neighborhood cemetery.

According to the Government Commission on Missing Persons, Sinan Dauti, born on June 17, 1990, went missing during the Kosovo war.

He was seriously wounded on April 12, 1999, by Serbian forces and passed away two days later in Mitrovica as a result of his injuries. For many years, his family had no information about his fate.

“After a long search process and continuous efforts over the years by the Government Commission on Missing Persons, the Institute of Forensic Medicine, and the Police Directorate for the Investigation of War Crimes – Missing Persons Sector, as well as with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the mortal remains of Sinan Dauti were found in the Suhodoll cemetery in Mitrovica, while identification was recently carried out by the Institute of Forensic Medicine,” the statement said.

The reburial ceremony is being organized at the request of the family, with the support of the Government Commission on Missing Persons and the Municipality of Skenderaj.

“On this occasion, in this difficult moment for the family, we express our most sincere condolences to the Dauti family,” the statement added.
