Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, stated that the summit of regional leaders with the European Union was a great opportunity to demonstrate the importance the EU Growth Plan has for the region.
He mentioned the progress Kosovo has made in the Reform Agenda at this summit.
“This event was a good opportunity to highlight the importance of the EU Growth Plan for the region and the progress Kosovo has made towards finalizing the Reform Agenda, which includes five policy areas, with 32 reforms in 17 sectors, as well as a platform to convey the message of the need for good neighborliness and de-jure and de-facto recognition, as a basis for peace, security, and regional integration,” wrote Kurti.
He emphasized the importance of the Western Balkans being part of the EU’s new institution, the Anti-Money Laundering Authority, to combat financial crime, a proposal that became part of the joint declaration.
“To combat financial crime and prevent money laundering, I emphasized that the region should become part of the EU’s new institution, the Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA), a request that became part of the Joint Declaration of this meeting.“
“Today, we also committed to approving the new Action Plan for the Common Regional Market at the next summit of the Berlin Process. As this process marks its 10th anniversary, full implementation of the agreements reached is necessary, including those for free movement with ID cards between Kosovo and Bosnia,” wrote Kurti.
The Prime Minister thanked the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milojko Spajiq, for hosting this event as well as for our first bilateral meeting.
“Strengthening the ties of cooperation with Montenegro is a mutual commitment, as partner states on the common journey towards European integration,” wrote Kurti.
