Under the care of the Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, commemorative tributes have been organized and a Book of Condolences has been opened in honor of the life and work of academic Rexhep Qosja.

The first to write in the Book of Condolences was the Acting President, who is also the Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu.

The tributes will continue until 16:00, while today (April 24) in Kosovo has been declared a day of mourning in his honor.

The academic, writer, and literary critic Rexhep Qosja passed away on Thursday at the age of 90, his family announced.

His nephew, Valjet Rexhepi, said in a Facebook post that Qosja was buried on Thursday in a private family ceremony.

“At the request of the deceased, no reception ceremony will be organized by the family. The family will not participate in institutional events. We ask that our privacy be respected and that we be allowed to mourn in peace,” Rexhepi wrote.
