By order of the Special Department for the Suppression of Corruption, the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office (VJT) in Belgrade has arrested N.Đ. (identified by local media as Nemanja Đuran), the former Deputy Chief of the Criminal Police Directorate (UKP).

Đuran’s arrest is part of an ongoing, widening investigation into the systemic cover-up of a high-profile November 5, 2025 shootout at the “Steak and Wine Bar” on Belgrade’s Autokomanda, which occurred in front of numerous restaurant guests.

Abuse of Office to Protect a Suspect

According to the official prosecution statement, the criminal complaint charges Đuran with “Abuse of Official Position.”

Investigators allege that Đuran actively leveraged his top-tier authority within the police hierarchy to interfere with a live crime scene, sabotaging the judicial process to shield a prominent criminal figure.

The Prosecution’s Case: There are grounds of suspicion that N.Đ., utilizing his official position, influenced other suspects to alter the crime scene by removing evidence and traces from the hospitality venue. This tampering was designed to conceal the fact that suspect Saša Vuković (known as ‘Boske’) had committed serious crimes, thereby illegally securing a benefit for him.”

Vuković, the primary actor in the restaurant shooting, faces heavy charges including “causing public danger” and “illegal production, possession, carrying, and trafficking of weapons and explosive materials.” Notably, Vuković has also recently emerged as the prime suspect in the high-profile murder of Aleksandar Nešović at the “27” restaurant in Belgrade’s affluent Senjak neighborhood.

A Systemic Investigation: Police Units Implicated

Đuran has been placed under a mandatory 48-hour police detention, during which he will be brought in for formal questioning and an arraignment hearing before the VJT’s anti-corruption unit.

The investigation has exposed deep corruption within local law enforcement layers, directly implicating emergency response teams and restaurant management.

The Expanding "Steak and Wine Bar" Investigation Network:
[Primary Suspect] --> Saša Vuković "Boske" (The shooter / facing firearms & public danger charges)
[The Police Official] --> N.Đ. / Nemanja Đuran (Former Deputy Chief of UKP / charged with orchestrating the cover-up)
[Active Complicits] --> 5 Officers from the elite "Interventna Jedinica 92" (Intervention Unit)
+ The Director of the "Steak and Wine Bar" restaurant

The evidence-gathering process and parallel criminal proceedings are currently being aggressively executed against the five Interventna Jedinica 92 officers—who allegedly assisted in clearing out physical evidence under orders—and the venue’s director, who complied with the cover-up scheme rather than reporting the violence.
