Kosovo’s acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, has congratulated the United States of America on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of its Independence, describing the day as a historic milestone with profound global influence on the ideals of freedom and human rights.

In his message, Kurti emphasized that the Declaration of Independence of 1776, adopted by the Continental Congress in Philadelphia, represents a foundational document of modern political thought, proclaiming the universal principles of equality and the inalienable rights of every individual.

He noted that these principles, embodied in the “Spirit of ’76,” have also shaped historical developments in the Balkans, including U.S. support for the Albanian national cause after the First World War and the decisive role played by the United States in Kosovo’s state-building process.

Kurti also recalled the historic 1918 meeting between Fan Noli and U.S. President Woodrow Wilson, as well as President George W. Bush’s 2007 statement in Tirana, describing both moments as enduring examples of American support for the right of peoples to self-determination.

Concluding his message, Kurti expressed his gratitude and extended his congratulations, stating: “Happy Fourth of July and happy 250th anniversary to the United States of America.”
