Acting President of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, met today with Riho Terras, the European Parliament’s standing rapporteur for Kosovo, calling for the country’s application for European Union membership to be processed without further delays.
According to a statement from the Presidency, Haxhiu thanked Terras for his continued support for Kosovo’s European perspective and stressed that the country’s progress should be assessed strictly on the basis of merit.
She said Kosovo is not seeking exceptions to EU criteria but rather a fair accession process that would pave the way for candidate status and the opening of membership negotiations.
Haxhiu also highlighted Kosovo’s progress in European reforms, the rule of law, economic development, and its close cooperation with EU institutions, emphasizing that the country’s Euro-Atlantic orientation remains clear, consistent, and enjoys broad public support.
The meeting also addressed the Kosovo–Serbia dialogue, regional security, and the lack of accountability for the Banjska terrorist attack. Haxhiu stressed that the EU-led dialogue should be based on the implementation of agreements and equal accountability for all parties.
